201 stainless steel is a low-carbon steel with a chromium content of approximately 10%. It is the most common form of stainless steel used in manufacturing because it is less expensive than 304 grade stainless steel, yet has similar properties.

304 grade stainless steel is a high-carbon steel with a chromium content of approximately 18%. It is more corrosion-resistant than 201 grade stainless steel and is used in applications where greater durability and toughness are required.

316 grade stainless steel is a high-carbon steel with a chromium content of approximately 16%. It is the most corrosion-resistant form of stainless steel and is used in applications where the highest level of corrosion resistance is required.
